About this register

Nepal Disaster Search is a volunteer-run public register for people reported missing in the current disaster. Families add what they know; volunteers cross-check listings against official announcements and update them when someone is found.

What we publish, and what we do not

Listings are not checked before they appear

A report goes live as soon as it is submitted. We do not verify it first. During an active disaster, waiting hours to publish a photograph costs more than the occasional wrong listing does — so we have chosen speed, and we are telling you plainly what that means. Volunteers watch the register and remove spam and hoaxes, but nothing here is confirmed. Check anything important against the Nepal Police or an official list before you act on it.

Our terms and disclaimer set this out in full.

Removing a listing

If you want a listing taken down, or you have found the person, use the “Report this listing” link on their page and quote the reference. A volunteer will action it.

This is not an emergency service

Call 100 for Police or 102 for an ambulance. Report a missing person to the Nepal Police first; this register is a supplement, not a replacement.
